Volunteer Wang Yi-Ming, who has served as the captain of the environmental protection volunteer team since the establishment of the Environmental Protection Administration’s Toxic and Chemical Substances Bureau (hereinafter referred to as the Chemical Substances Bureau) in 2016, is recommended by the Chemical Substances Bureau to participate in the 23rd Annual Model Volunteer Service Family and Lifetime Dedication Award of the Volunteer Association of the Republic of China, and is honored to receive the Volunteer Lifetime Dedication Award, and the awarding ceremony was held at the 4th Floor Assembly Hall of Taichung City Hall today(26th).
The Chemical Substances Bureau states that as the Chemical Substances Bureau has gone through significant amendments to the toxic control laws and regulations and the announcement of the listing of laughing gas as a chemical substance of concern since its establishment, people frequently call to inquire about related matters, and volunteer Wang Yi-Ming always assists by answering those simple questions first and transferring in-depth questions to the competent unit for detailed explanations, to provide satisfactory service to the public. The volunteer team members also recognize and respect the guidance and management of Captain Wang Yi-Ming, and it is their pleasure to serve together with Captain Wang, with lifelong learning. Although being already 83 years old, volunteer Wang Yi-Ming still timely learns and understands the Bureau’s new policies to help answer questions from the public.
Mr. Wang Yi-Ming has been a volunteer for 20 years and has been the volunteer team captain for 12 years, currently serving in the Toxic and Chemical Substances Bureau as well as the Environmental Protection Administration as an environmental volunteer. Prior to that, he also served as a judicial volunteer in the Taiwan High Court, Taipei District Court, and the Intellectual Property Court under the Judicial Yuan. During the duration of his service, he was awarded the Outstanding Volunteer Service Performance Gold Medal Award by the Judicial Yuan, the Outstanding Volunteer Service Performance Silver Medal Award by the Ministry of the Interior, and the Outstanding Volunteer Service Performance Gold Medal Award by the Ministry of the Interior.
The spirit of volunteerism is the driving force of human progress. Hence, volunteer Wang Yi-Ming shared from his own experience by saying, "Volunteering has helped me to take a step forward in my life journey. In order to be healthy, people must go out and interact with others, which is a great help to physical health" and shared and encouraged each other with it.
