In response to the global trend of green chemistry and environment and to reward parties who have been dedicated to the development of relevant improvement measures and promote green chemistry, Environmental Protection Administration (EPA) has renamed “Regulations of Governing Rewards for Toxic Chemical Substances Operation” to “Regulations of Governing Rewards for Toxic and Concerned Chemical Substances Operation” in accordance with Paragraph 2 of Article 72 of “Toxic and Concerned Chemical Substances Control Act”. It is expected that this amendment will encourage all circles to maximize their strengths to promote green chemistry and the scope thereof will be expanded to enhance human health and better protect our environment.
Amendments were also made to details of the Regulations, such as expanding the scope of application; holding the evaluation every two years; imposing more restrictions on applicants’ qualifications; and bettering rules related to the review panel. Besides, apart from publicly recognizing group and individual winners and distributing a trophy thereto, individual winners will also receive a bonus; and, with respect to those who have been rewarded for two consecutive times, they will be eligible to join the evaluation only three years later in order to encourage other groups and individuals to join this event.
