The Toxic and Chemical Substances Bureau of the Environmental Protection Administration, Executive Yuan, and the National Science and Technology Center for Disaster Reduction signed the Collaborative Memorandum on October 13, 2022. The cooperation document was signed by Hsieh Yein-Rui, Director General of the Toxic and Chemical Substances Bureau of the Environmental Protection Administration, Executive Yuan, and Chen Hong-Yu, Director of the National Science and Technology Center for Disaster Reduction. In the future, the two parties closer together to promote the integration of toxic and chemical substance disasters reduction-related information and system, shareing disaster emergency response information, and conduct technology research and implement applications on specific cooperation issues.
According to the Environmental Protection Administration, the National Science and Technology Center for Disaster Reduction has a professional team with research and development capabilities of domestic disaster prevention and reduction technology, and has signed collaborative agreements with relevant central government agencies, with related technical resources and platforms for domestic disaster warning, map information, research and development, etc. This cooperation is mainly to enhance the professional level of toxic and chemical substance disaster prevention and relief technology in Taiwan, and will promote the research and application of toxic and chemical substance disasters prevention and reduction related technology jointly with the National Science and Technology Center for Disaster Reduction, based on the principles of "co-work, mutual benefit, and resource sharing."
This Collaborative Agreement focus five major items, including the promotion and professional consultation of technology-related research and application, information and map information construction, technology research and application-related activities, disaster information module construction and maintenance, and technology research for specific cooperation issues. It is expected that through this cooperation mechanism, we can improve the domestic toxic and chemical substance disaster prevention and reduction technology, integrate the emergency response information, and reduce the risk of domestic disasters, enhancing the safety of human life.
